Design Team Challenge - "What's On Your Desk?"

DESIGN TEAM CHALLENGE
"WHAT'S ON YOUR DESK?"

I am honored to be a part of a new Design Team called the  Crafty Card Gallery.  Each month, the design team will be posting cards created for a monthly challenge theme.  This month the theme is "What's On Your Desk?"

The criteria for this challenge is for the design team to use items that we currently have on our desks or in our craft rooms and not to buy anything new like stamps, papers, etc.

MY CARD FOR THE CHALLENGE

At the time I created this card, I had Christmas patterned paper spread all over my desk and the Christmas Tree stamp duo by Gina K.  Below is the card that I created for the challenge.

I paper pieced the Christmas tree stamp.  The greeting is from Gina K Designs, Wishing You Joy, stamp set.
The patterned paper is by Fancy Pants, Home For Christmas. The twine is from The Twinery.

Please take some time to visit the Crafty Card Gallery blog and keep up with all of the great challenges and announcements about the newest edition of the magazine.

I'm Hosting the Stamp TV Mix It Up Monday Challenge

Hi Everybody!  Today I'm hosting the Stamp TV Mix It Up Monday Challenge.

This is my challenge:
Now that cooler weather is making its way in, it's time to find ways to snuggle in and stay warm.  My challenge is to make a card that is "Warm & Cozy".  It's completely open to your interpretation.  We just want to get a feeling of being 'warm & cozy' when looking at your card.  Have FUN with it and be creative!

I hope you can play this week!

Here are the card samples I made....

All stamp sets are from Gina K Designs.
I used the Winter Wonderland and Simple Snowflakes sets for this card.

I used white and red hot card stock, embossing the white layer with snowflakes.  I used the Blizzard and Winter Whimsy patterned papers.  I embossed the mittens with white embossing powder and used classic circles dies to cut out.  I also embossed the greeting at the bottom.  The ribbon is new from Gina K Designs.

I used the Simple Snowflakes and Wishing You Joy stamp sets for this one.

I used white and red hot card stock.  I stamped snowflakes in different reds and pinks as my dp.  I paper pieced the penguin's scarf with Winter Whimsy patterned paper.  The dies are the classic circle and rectangle.  The snowflake die is the Create-A-Flake Three.  All dies from Spellbinders.

I hope you liked my cards and that you can make the time to play this challenge this week.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Winter Cards

Hi everybody!  Today I wanted to share a couple of winter cards with you.

The first one was made for a Stamp TV challenge.  The challenge was to make a card with just a greeting on the front, no image.  This greeting is from Gina K Designs, Winter Wonderland stamp set.   The patterned paper and ribbon are also from Gina K Designs. The patterned paper is called Blizzard.

The second card I CASE'd  from a Gina K video. The penguin stamp and greeting are a Gina K Designs stamp duo. The scallop border was cut from the Cameo Silhouette.

Not only do I enjoy making Christmas cards but also Winter cards.  So fun!

Thanks for stopping by and have a nice day!

Northwoods Cornucopia Stamp

Hi everybody!  I hope you're having a great week so far.  Now that Halloween is only a week away, I've started thinking about Thanksgiving.  I found an awesome stamp at Archivers.  The brand is Northwoods.  I want to share the card I made with this wonderful stamp.

Isn't that a beautiful stamp.  It looks beautiful not colored as well.  I decided to use colored pencils. I used the new Spellbinders Decorative Labels 8 die to frame it.  Anyway, LOVE this stamp!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Card Inspired from Pinterest

Hi everybody!  Just wanted to share a card that I saw on Pinterest.  I saw this card and knew I had to try and make it.  I love pianos, matter of fact, I recently inherited one from my Grandmother, the one I learned on.  I love piano music... The piano is one of the few instruments that sound good all by itself.  Okay, I'll stop rambling about pianos and show you my card.  :)

I used Gina K Designs White and Black Onyx card stock.  The greeting is from Gina K Designs, Dogwood and Butterfly, by Theresa Momber.

Want to make a special card for a music lover, this might be it.  Ask me if you'd like measurements.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Re-Sticking Your Cutting Mat (Silhouette, Cricut)

Hi everybody!  About a month and a half ago I bought a Cameo Silhouette machine.  I haven't spent a lot of time with it yet but what I have spent, I love it!  A problem that I started having, a little too early in my opinion, is that the mat wasn't sticky anymore.  My paper started moving around as it was going through the machine.  Not good!  A friend of mine pointed out a website called Craftaholics Anonymous, http://www.craftaholicsanonymous.net/.

The list below is on her site and I just wanted to share it with you.  Hopefully one of these tips will help me and if you have questions about how to clean your mat or try to make it sticky again, it will help you as well.

how to restick a cutting mat

How to Clean a Cutting Mat

  1. “I use nail polish remover on my Silhouette mats and it works great….” -Ryann S.
  2. “To re sticky I wash it with warm soapy water and let it air dry.” -Stefanie D.
  3. “I used baby wipes to clean them let them dry and they are sticky again….give it a try u will like it, I haven’t bought a mat in awhile” -Reba M.
  4. “Take a wet wipe and clean the mat…it lasts for a few more uses!” -Angie O.
  5. “I don’t know if this was said but my mom said to try to clean off the matt with Goof Off ” -Felisha H.
  6. “A lint roller helps maintain the stickiness for longer too.” -Jody K.
  7. “I tried the baby wipe thing. PLEASE test it on a small portion first before you ruin your entire mat. My mat is no longer sticky in the area I used the wipe on.” -Melissa L.
  8. “I went to a convention and this is what the cricut guy told me. Soak in dawn soap(I did it for 24 hrs). Then use a scraper and scrape off the stuff left on the mat and dry Then take reposition tape runner all over mat. Wait 10 mins. Then start using. Hope this helps” -Sharon P.
  9. “Get a baby wipe and rub it…. You to have to push while rubbing and then let it dry. Make sure there is not bleach in the wipes.”  -Jill H.
  10. “I have had to re sticky my mat many time, I use DE- Solv-it to clean the old sticky” -Dania F.

How to Re-Stick a Cutting Mat

  11.  ”Spray adhesive works to prolong the matts life.” -Lynn W.
  12. “I have personally heard that elmers repositionable glue sticks for poster board work great and are the easiest!” -Nicole A.
  13. “Krylon’s Easy-Tack Repositionable Adhesive” -Judi S.
  14. “Spray adhesive will work on old ones in a pinch” -Jodi M.
  15. “Definitely spray adhesive! Works great for fabric cutting too.” -Karen C.
  16. ” I use quilt basting spray on my mat, it works very well” -Donna R.
  17. “I tried spray adhesive, but it didn’t work.” -Melanie H.
  18. “I use the large Zig two-way glue all over the surface and let it dry completely…works like a charm!” -Amie K.
  19. “Crafters companion stick and spray….. But don’t spray the mat as this can end up getting the adhesive on the machines rollers, spray directly to the back of what you are going to cut ie paper, card , material etc x” -Kerry G.
  20. ” I use the zig glue stick to get another layer of stickiness on my mats. ” -Vickie O.
  21. “Custom crops as these two great spray on products – one you spray on and then scrape off the old glue. Then there is a new adhesive you spray on.” -Annette E.
  22. “Check out a glue called Best Glue Ever and it works awesome for cricut mats.. you put it on with an old credit card and let it dry and it is tackier than even new mats come.. I stick it to my hand a couple times so it’s not so super sticky =] I haven’t bought a new mat in over a year.” -Tarynne W.
  23. “I did the search a while back and found that you paint them with a dilluted mixture of aileens tacky glue and water. Worked wonders!” -Nancy W.
  24. “Tape off the edges as you don’t want adhesive to gunk up your wheels. Then spray with quilters basting spray from Walmart. You never need buy another mat again. ” -Suzy B.
  25. “Sulky makes a temporary spray adhesive called KK2000 that might work. It does build up on plastic surfaces, but can be cleaned off with rubbing alcohol.” -Marilyn S.

One Stamp Two Different Ways

Hi everybody!  I keep going back and forth right now between Fall cards and Christmas cards.  I love making both and I want to make both of them as long as I can.

Below is a super cute duo set from Gina K Designs, I think it's called the Christmas Tree Duo.  I made two different kinds of cards with this same set.

This first card is a CAS card.  It was for a World Card Day Challenge at Stamp TV, make a CAS card that looks layered.  You might know this as reverse masking also.

I used a metallic gold ink that would make the tree look lit up.  I used the new Spellbinders die called Resplendent Rectangles.  I cut out the die to show you what it looks like with the next card.  This set is so neat because these dies are interchangeable with one another. I don't mean they're all the same size, they're all different dies and work with each other. If you're looking to buy a new set, consider this one.

I wanted to have some fun with this next card.  Sometimes I like to stray from the traditional Christmas colors using red and turquoise or in this case, pink and green.  I think this card is so cute!

This die has paper piercing around the edge.  Looks like you did it yourself.  You can also frame it with the next size up, which is a pretty ornate one.  That's what I meant by they are interchangeable.

Here's a picture.  I hope you can see what I'm talking about it here.  Not sure if you can.  the package shows examples of how to mix and match them 20+ ways!

It's fun to use the same stamp different ways but I'm sure you're already doing this!

Thanks for stopping by and have a GREAT DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I Won The Stamp TV Challenge This Week!

Hi Everybody!  I hope you're enjoying the Fall weather.  The weather in St. Louis kind of skipped 10 degrees (the 70's), we've been in the 60's lately with a 70 here and there.  Don't you hate it when you feel cheated out of your Fall season?  :)

Yesterday I made a Fall card for a challenge at Stamp TV.  The challenge was to use two dp's.  You heard me right.  You two dp's.  I was in heaven!  I pulled out a new one and an oldie but goodie and this is what I came up with.

I used the Gina K Designs Sun Kissed Autumn patterned paper, the top part, this is her newest designer paper pack.  It's really pretty.  You should give it a look.  Here's a link to it, Sun Kissed Autumn Paper.
The bottom layer is Gina K Designs Falling For You patterned paper, which unfortunately, is no longer available, I checked this morning.  That's a bummer too because that was really great pack.  I used her Tomato Soup card stock, which I am in LOVE with and the matching ribbon.

I also just want to let everyone know how excited that I am to have one the Mix It Up Monday Stamp TV Challenge this week!!!!!  Woo Hoo!  I haven't won in SO LONG and only one time.
This is the card that won.

Well, thank you so much for stopping by and have a GREAT DAY!!!!

Stamp TV Challenges - I did them ALL!

Hi everybody!  This is the first week in a LONG time that I've participated in all of the Stamp TV challenges for the week.  I wanted to share those cards with you.

This one is called Flowers.  You have to make a card that has flowers of some kind on it.

I used the Emboss Resist technique on the background using the sunflower stamp.

The next challenge is called Elderly.  You have to make a card to appreciate our Elderly like a thinking of you card for example.

I used Gina K Designs Celebrate the Seasons flower stamp and matched it to Bo Bunny paper.

I think I posted this one already.... the final challenge was the CAS challenge

I used Gina K Designs stamps called Autumn Beauty by Theresa Momber.

If you've never played in the Stamp TV challenges you really should give them a try!  The prize is a grab bag of Gina K stamps.  If you've never tried her stamps, you're in for a real treat.
Please give the challenges a try next week!

Thanks for stopping by and have a GREAT day!!!

Happy Fall Y'all

Finally, Fall is here!  My favorite time of the year.  I LOVE making Fall cards.  I LOVE Fall colors.  Do you know what I think is fun?  The Kaleidacolor Autumn Leaves ink.  It's an ink pad with 5 different colors of inks in which you can use one color or all colors at once.  If you remember the card I posted with the tree that had the different color leaves, I used this ink on the leaves.  Anyway, something fun to try.

This is what it looks like.....

I made a card yesterday for a Stamp TV challenge.  The challenge was to make a CAS card, that's it, a clean and simple card.  I think those cards can be much more difficult to make than a layered card, don't you?

I used Gina K Designs heavy base white card stock (my favorite).  The stamps are Gina K Designs stamps
by Theresa Momber, the set called Autumn Beauty.

I think the card turned out okay but I think my sentiment got a little lost in the middle there.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!!!
