Making a Portfolio for Your Cards - TUTORIAL - Sin City Scraps Stamps

Hi everybody!

Today I'm excited about a tutorial making a portfolio using clear card boxes that can hold cards, as many as you please, sketches, articles, anything crafty you can think of.  I'm using Sin City Scraps stamps to decorate the front of this portfolio and Close To My Heart card stock and patterned papers called Chantilly.  Both of these used together make such a pretty creation.  I got this idea from Pinterest. :)  Gotta Love Pinterest!

Here's the supplies used except I ended up using different buttons than shown below.  I'm using Sin City Scraps stamp set called Wildlife, which I love.  It's such a fun set.  Please check it out!  That's 8" of ribbon, you need 2 pieces for front and back of portfolio.

Choose a couple of pieces of card stock and a piece of patterned paper ( this is what I used for mine, you can choose any combination obviously that you want). I used ivory which isn't pictured below for the strip that will run across the front. See below.

First, measure a 5-1/2" x 1-1/2" strip of card stock and a 5-1/2" x 1-3/4" piece of card stock in a different color, you can decorate the bottom and top with scallops, etc., make it slightly wider if you want to decorate top.

Second, I stamped a peacock border from Sin City Stamps called Wildlife.

Next, cut solid paper that will match your other papers and/stamps and punch 2 holes in the top at 1/2" from the top and 1-1/2" from each edge.  Put an 8" piece of ribbon through the holes and tape ends to back of paper. Adhere a 3" x 5-1/2" piece of patterned paper to the solid piece of card stock.

Adhere this piece to your solid bottom layer that will be the size of your card box.  You can add buttons or other embellishments if you'd like.

I cut a 1-3/8 inch circle from ivory card stock and used Sin City stamp from the Wildlife set to stamp a greeting that would describe the theme for my box.  Then I cut a scalloped circle for the bottom layer.

Now, you're going to cut the top of your box off so that you can use it to put your items in.  I used a regular Fiskars trimmer.  You might have to run it back and forth a few times.  You can use as many boxes as you'd like.  I used 2 but 3 would be great also.

Next you're going to cut card stock to go in the back of your card boxes. You'll need as many pieces as boxes and you can just put it in the back or back and front, it's up to you.

Here, I put the card stock back and front.

I used score tape to adhere the decorated part to the front of the box.  I also used score tape to adhere a second box to the first.

Then, you're going to decorate the back of the box using the same papers as the front and a piece of ribbon.  Adhere with score tape.

I put some cards and envelopes to show you how well they fit.  I could easily put 8 total maybe 10.

And here's the picture of it all put together.  How cute is this?  What a super cute gift for someone that you're giving cards to.

I hope you enjoyed my tutorial. Again, here is a link to the Sin City Scraps Shop.  If you have any questions, let me know and be sure to leave your contact information.  I'd love it if you would leave a comment to let me know how I'm doing on the tutorials.  Am I being too detailed?

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!
