Copics on Canvas

Hi everybody,

I tried something new this week that I wanted to share.  I stamped on canvas for the first time and I was really happy with the result.

My family lives in Mississippi so I used a magnolia stamp, the state flower, to make this canvas.  I just bought some pre-wrapped canvases from Michaels.

First, I primed them with Gesso, the clear kind.  You use a foam paint brush to brush it on and it's white but dries clear.  There is also a white kind so don't get that kind or it will dry white.

Since I bought the pre-wrapped canvases, I used wood mounted stamps that fit in the opening in the back and  a piece of foam to make the middle of the canvas taut.  It would've been easier to use a loose piece of canvas but this worked fine.

Next I stamped and colored with copics.  When you color, use light strokes so the ink doesn't smear.  If you use a light color, kind of dot it on.  I used a yellow and that's what I did.  When I used strokes, it smeared.  I used Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.

Then I put Diamond Stickes in the middle and Glossy Accents on the leaves.  Stamped Mississippi on it and I now have a nice gift for my Mom.  You can also spray a clear sealant on it but I didn't.

Here's what it looks like.

Then you can frame it if you'd like.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Shaving Cream Technique Tutorial with Sin City Stamps

If you're looking for the Besties Blog Hop, click HERE

Hi everybody,

I wanted to use the Sin City Stamps Art Journaling stamp with the numbers on it for a birthday card and wanted an abstract background so I decided to play today with the shaving cream technique.  It's really easy and results in a beautiful marbled look.

You'll need some shaving cream, paper plate, a butter knife, dye ink reinkers (however many colors you want in your design) and something to scrape the shaving cream off with.

1.  Squirt shaving cream all around on a paper plate.

2.  Use the reinkers by squirting a drop in various places in the shaving cream.  Do this for all the colors.  I used 3 different colors, a pink, orange and green.

3.  Take a butter knife and pull the knife through the shaving cream all the way around the plate to marble the ink but don't mix the colors up too much.

4.   Take a piece of card stock and lay on top of the shaving cream and gently press all over the card stock.

5.  You'll end up with a glob of shaving cream on the card stock.  Take your scraper and just scrape the shaving cream off in a downward motion.

6.  You'll end up with a marbled look.  This is what mine looked like.

I used the numbers stamp from the Art Journaling stamp set and the greeting is from Steampunk Circus.

7.  Here's my finished card.

If you want a fun look that is easy to achieve, try this technique.  I wanted something fun for this particular birthday card and this look is exactly what I had in mind.  I hope you'll try it too!

Please take a minute and check out all of the other projects from the rest of the team on the Sin City Stamps BLOG

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Hello and welcome to Sherri's Besties DT blog hop – we are all excited for this being our second hop and the projects we have to show you are fantastic.

Sherri has been creating her new Besties  for some time now and we are all delighted to see how popular they have become in the crafting world.
The talented ladies in the line up for this hop are all  loving the digis and looking forward to showcasing just a few of them for you today using sewing or adding buttons.  That's the challenge this week over at www.bestieschallenge.blogspot.com

The digi I used is called Come Rain or Shine

I used glossy accents to give dimension and make the umbrella, rain drops and puddle look wet.

Supplies:
Cardstock:  Gina K Designs white, lemon drop and jelly bean green
Patterned Paper:  Close To My Heart Dream Pop paper pack, My Mind's Eye, Springtime
Ink:  Colorbox Cornflower, Memento Dandelion (sponged)
Stamp:  Sherri Baldy's Besties Stamp, Come Rain or Shine

Copic Markers
Spellbinders:  Petite Ovals and Scalloped Oval

Ribbon:  Gina K Designs, white organza
Glossy Accents
Buttons: Mixed Greens, Gina K Designs, White, my stash
Rhinestones: Kaiserkraft
Mother of Pearl Gems: Want2Scrap

Close up of sewing.  This is the first time I've ever sewn on a card.  If I can do it, anyone can because I don't even know how to sew.  It took me 2 hours to thread bobbin, needle, etc.  LOL!

I probably shouldn't show this but this is how I started.  lol

We are offering some amazing blog candy for some lucky commenters who take part in the hop too.
All you have to do in order to qualify for a chance to win the candy is to Comment on each participants blog in the hop and become a follower of Sherri’s blog.
Each DT member will give away the digi that they have used on their project to one commenter PLUS Sherri  is giving away your choice of either 5 digis or 3 decoupage 3d card making kit download.
AMAZING candy don’t you think ?

**On my blog, you can win the digi I'm using on my card but in addition, I'm giving away the May Stamp of the Month from Close To My Heart, which I also sell here, Close To My Heart.  The stamp set is called Pinwheels.  I've had a lot of fun with this set and I know you will too.  Please comment on my blog and I'd love it if you'd become a follower as well.  :)
