Cardmaking Badge for Girl Scouts

Hi Everybody!

I was just sitting here thinking about a call I got from a friend the other day... She said her daughter's Girl Scout troop chose Cardmaking Badge this time for the badge they wanted to get. I didn't even know there was a Cardmaking badge lol. I was a Girl Scout. If there was one back then I might've started this a lot earlier!

Anyway, she asked if I would come in and talk to the girls and show them how to make a card so they could get their badge. Of course I said YES! I was thinking we could make Christmas cards and then they can send out the cards they make. I am very honored and happy to share anything I can about cards. I think this will be cute and fun time!

Today I would just like to share a few more cards that I have made over the last few weeks.  Still trying to get myself caught up.  :)

This was made for someone's friend's birthday. They like purple so I made this one.  The stamps are from Gina K Designs.

This was made for someone's Grandmother for Easter this year.  The cross is from Stampin' Up and the sentiment is from Close To My Heart.

These next three cards are for males.  This was made for a gentlemen that runs a private school and my customer wanted an elegant thank you card.  This is what I came up with. This stamp is from Close To My Heart.  I love it.  It's a larger stamp so you can make a super simple card and the stamp will do the work for you.

This card is for my customer's brother's birthday.  He is in the military so I came up with this.  The stars stamp is from Close To My Heart and the sentiment is from Gina K Designs.

I made this one for my own brother.  He likes to go shooting and takes my nephew so I added the gun charm.  I was so surprised when he posted something on my Facebook page that he received the most awesome birthday card made by his sister and it had made his day.  Wow!  I think it was the gun charm that did it! LOL!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

You Are Amazing! - My Besties Design Team Post

Hi Everybody!

This is my first My Besties Design Team post in over a year!  The last 12 months have flown by for me.

I'm posting Sherri Baldy's digi stamp called, Sea Shell Susie (IMG 383). You can purchase it at Scrapbook Stamp Society

I apologize, I usually break out the supply list and provide links but I had company yesterday and didn't get to finish my card until late last night and I'm now doing my blog post at 4:30 am.  LOL!  Oops!  I'll get back in the swing of things.

I used copics to color the image with some Sukura Gelly Roll metallic pens, sponged Memento Inks in Desert Sand and Summer Sky, Stickles in Fruitpunch (one of my favorite colors) and Glossy Accents.  I used Gina K Designs card stock in which I am a huge fan.  I used Black Onyx, White Heavy Base Weight, which I love for my card bases and for the layer I emboss.  I am pretty sure that cool ribbon that looks like netting to me is May Arts because I got it when I was on the Ribbon Carousel Design Team but I'm not 100% sure.  Sequins from my stash.  The stamp set is from Technique Tuesday called Appreciated and I used Spellbinders Labels 8 for the image layer and background layer.

I'm a little behind in trying some products so I'm just now experimenting with Gelatos.  I used metallic gelatos on the background.  I really wish you could see more of it.  I should've taken a picture of the background before I adhered the image.  I stamped kind of a flourish image and embossed in white.  I then just took the metallic blue and green gelatos and rubbed them with my finger to blend a little and took a baby white to wipe off some places creating an emboss resist.  These are so fun to play with and not messy at all if you use baby whites to clean up.

I hope you liked my card!  Have a great Sunday and please stop by again.

Cards I've Made

Hi everybody,

*Sigh*, it is SO good to be here posting again.  I didn't realize how much I missed it and needed this outlet.  I thought I would just post a few of the cards I've made over the last few weeks to get myself caught up.  I don't really have anything new to say.... I'm working on note cards and tags for a Real Estate Agent and she said she would show the entire office so who know, maybe that will turn into something profitable.  I'll post these when I'm finished.  I'm back on Sherri Baldy's My Besties Design Team.  I was on the team up until last August and had to quit because of everything that you already know about that happened last year.  So this will be good for me I think because it will push me and inspire me to color with copics on a regular basis and of course, keep my blog up to date. :)

I made these cards for my boyfriend's stepdaughter, who is getting married in September.

I apologize for my pictures but until I can get my light box out of storage, I'm just doing the best I can.

This image is Elisabeth Bell and I think it is so adorable!  See the cowboy boot charm?  She is supposed to be wearing a wedding dress and cowboy boots.  I've been told that is the thing now lol.  Wow, I am so out of the loop!

Her colors are teal and burlap so I cut out these burlap flowers with the die machine.

I made this card with my Silhouette, cut the pieces out and put the margarita together.  I used vellum for the glass stem and put stickles around the edge where the salt is.  She wanted a bright, cheerful card with a margarita on it and I think I accomplished that.

Someone wanted a card for their husband with a bunch of hearts on it.  It's kind of difficult to make a masculine card with a bunch of hearts on it but I thought this turned out super cute.

This customer wanted a card for a friend that she hasn't seen in 25 years and wants to reconnect.  The inside says, Thinking of You and Smiling. :)  The recipient reads a lot so I made a bookmark.  She loves butterflies and vintage/distressed/victorian look.

I don't want to bore you to death just looking at card after card so I'll just post a few a day.

I hope you'll stop by again tomorrow.  Have a great day!

I'm Back!!!

Hi everybody,

I can't believe my last blog post was August 29, 2013, almost one year ago.  Wow!  So much has happened to me during the last  year and I just wanted to tell you a little about it and hope that you'll check out my blog again.  I hope I didn't lose all of my wonderful followers.

I won't go into a whole lot of detail but here goes....  Last August I actually took the Standard and Intermediate Copic Classes to get certified.  Lori Craig was the instructor and she was fabulous.  If you haven't taken these classes, you will learn things you didn't know I promise.  THEN, it all started....

In September I decided after thinking for a very long time about it, that I wanted a divorce after 13 years of marriage.  I wanted this with no doubts at all but I knew it would be very uncomfortable for awhile and I knew the next step would be to move.  OMG!  I cried as I was packing up my card room.  It was so sad to me because I knew I wouldn't be able to make cards for awhile and all my stuff was a mess now anyhow.  I did like my card room I have to say, but that's no reason to stay married lol.  :)

In November I moved to Mississippi.  My family and school friends all are here so it's really where I've wanted to be for a long time.  I am originally from Southaven, MS and I lived in St. Louis for 20 years so seeing my friends after all this time has been wonderful.  My Dad let me move into my Grandmother's house with Barney.  Oh YES, Barney went with me.  I would've fought tooth and nail for my baby. :)  It is just a little two bedroom house on 70 acres in Myrtle, MS, pretty much the middle of nowhere but I was grateful to have a place to move.  I knew it wouldn't be forever anyway but just to get me down here, I am so thankful to my Dad for that.  We were never that close until this happened.  It brought us together and he has helped me so much.  I unpacked my card room but it just didn't feel right.  I didn't feel creative.  I thought I could just jump back into it but it didn't happen.

The holidays came and went and it was nice to see family and not have to drive 5 hours.  I found out after the first of the year that my ex put my two 14 year old chocolate labs to sleep, Pebbles and Bambam.  I was crushed to say the least.  They weren't really ready for that but he had to move and couldn't take pets with him. ????   I know they're in a better place but I still can't believe they're gone.  I have had them since they were 5 weeks old.  I feel like I gave birth to them.  Barney is eight.  I don't have kids so these dogs have been my kids so to speak.  I know I have a lot of animal lover friends so you know what I mean.

I wasn't looking to date anyone or anything like that but at the end of January, a guy named Richie Bailey that went to my school sent me a message on Facebook about something I posted and we just started chatting and then went out and here I am today.  He knew that it was important to me to be able to make cards and his house is about an hour from the house in Myrtle so he asked if I wanted to set up a card room at his house and he helped me and I LOVE my space here, matter of fact I am going to move into his house in September.  He's the one and I wasn't even looking.  What's funny is I used to spend the night with his sister, who is my age, but he was never there.

Anyway, I just wanted to let you know kind of why I've been MIA.  A lot more has happened but I hit the high points.  I'm going to start posting cards again and there are several techniques that I'd like to play with and if they work, I'll share them with you.

I hope you'll stick with me now.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!!
