Gracielle Design Hydrangea Stamp Using Mottled Foil Technique

Hi Everybody,

I have a beautiful card to show you today along with a special promotion that starts today at the Graciellie Design shop.  There are four bundles that include four stamp sets on sale for 30% off until 9/14 and 50% off select stamp sets. Leave a comment on the Graciellie Design blog and you could win a $10 off coupon to use in the shop.

I chose a bundle called Beautiful Singles.  The stamp that I used today is called Elegant Greetings. The bundle also includes the stamp sets Amazing Things, Cup of Tea, and Bouquet of Blessings.

HERE is a link to this bundle

I made this card around an oxide ink background that I really liked.  I used card stock from Paper Temptress called Amethyst Mica/Metallic.  This card stock is very pretty and a great weight with a beautiful sheen.  It worked great for the shaker card I made.

I used lilac Deco-Foil by Thermoweb initially to foil the hydrangeas and I thought it was very pretty but I wanted some blue in them to match my background.

There is a technique video on Graciellie Design blog called The Mottled Foil Technique  and I gave it a try and was very happy with the results so I wanted to share it with you.  You do need to use a laser printer to print the digital images and sentiments in order to foil them.

I also made a short video on the promotion and the foil technique.

First I crumpled up the piece of lilac foil into a little ball and then uncrumpled it and put it over the hydrangea and ran it through the Minc machine.  Then I took the piece of lapis watercolor foil and laid it on the hydrangea like I normally would to foil and ran it through the minc. There were no lines doing it this way!

To ensure I had everything foiled since there are so many petals, I ran it through a third time with lilac foil on top as I normally would.  This is an easy way to give your image a two toned look or if you use a color crumpled up and then use the same color normally, it can give a distressed look.  I also used the lilac foil to foil the sentiment.  I also think it would look awesome to cut a few extras hydrangeas, cut out petals and layer for some added dimension.

This is just another idea to put into your arsenal of techniques to use one day.  I hope you'll check out the Graciellie Design blog to see this video where I originally learned this technique and also to comment to win a $10 off coupon to the Graciellie Design shop.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!
