The Silhouette Makes It Possible

Hi Everybody,

I had some fun today playing with my Silhouette.  This is such an awesome machine, I really need to use it more.  Somebody asked me to make a card with a sea turtle on it for a welcome baby card.  The nursery is decorated in sea turtles.  She emailed a jpeg of a specific sea turtle she wanted though.  So I bought the clip art and then was able to import that into Silhouette and create a cut file.  Thanks so much to my friend Allie Gower for helping me with that.  So, once it was made into a cut file, I had all the pieces to cut out in the different colors.  Wow, check out the eye!  That was a lot of work.  The clipart had more detail like spots, etc. but I chose to keep it semi-simple.  She wanted the big eye so I concentrated on that.  LOL!

She wanted the colors to be blue, greens and sand.  Hopefully I have a satisfied customer.  Thank you Silhouette for making it possible!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Masculine Hunting Card

Hi everybody,

I made a masculine card for someone who loves to hunt. Isn't the little rifle charm cute?

I made this card by just tearing the paper and distressing with Tim Holtz Vintage Photo ink. The stamps are Gina K Designs Nature Greetings.

I Crafted In A Barn!

Hi everybody,

I went to a card making get together yesterday in Nashville, IL.  I live in Lake St. Louis, MO so that's about 93 miles away.  Everybody asks me if I'm crazy for driving that far to craft with friends.  I think us crafters would drive anywhere to craft with others.  lol  Yes, we're a little crazy, but in a good way.

We were in the loft of a barn.  Helen has her craft room up there.  It's really nice, looks like a store because she has so much.  It was nice and air conditioned.  Here's a picture.

How cool is that??  Now I can say I made cards in a barn!  lol

Here are the cards I made for our card swap.  We each made 20 cards and split them.

I used the Silhouette to make this card, the cupcake and words.  It cut perfect because I used Close To My Heart card stock.  Please give their card stock and patterned papers a try.  They cut like butter in the Silhouette.  I also used some Papertrey Ink patterned paper in Berry Sorbet.  I also used Fruit Punch Stickles on the frosting of the cupcake and a swirly embossing folder.

Hexagons are so popular right now and I love this set by Close To My Heart.  It's only $13.95, check out the link to my web page for more details. The inside says 'having a friend like you'.

Close To My Heart - Honeycomb
I also used their Exclusive Black Ink Pad.  We all use black ink pads, please give this one a try.  You will LOVE it!

If you haven't gotten together and crafted with other people, I'd highly recommend it.  It's such a great way to spend an afternoon and be creative with other creative people.

Just Because.... For Lori

Hi everybody,

I wanted to share a card I made for my chemo patient.  Her name is Lori.  I can't describe the feeling I have as I'm making cards for her.  I feel like I have a real purpose.  You can sign up to be a Card Angel too.  Just go to Chemoangels.net and complete the Card Angel application.  It's kind of detailed so they can assign you to someone with similar interests.  Please consider doing this.  You just need to send 1-2 cards a week and every now and then a small gift $2-$10.  Can't we all put a little time and money aside for this?  :)

I used Close To My Heart card stock and patterned papers.  If you've never tried their paper, please do sometime.  You'll love it on your cards and with your Silhouette or Cricut.

The stamp is from Unity, Sweet Owl Just Because.

Twine is from Close To My Heart.

Diamond Stickles

Chestnut embossing powder

Spread Love

Hi everybody,
I took a few days off from blogging.  I had some personal issues going on but everything is getting much better and I've got my head back in the game.  :)

This is a simple card I made for a Gina K Designs/Stamp TV Mix It Up Monday challenge. You have to use a quote or saying on your card.  I used beautiful Chantilly Close To My Heart paper.  By the way, Close to my Heart paper will cut like butter in your Silhouette and Cricut.  If you've never tried it and are struggling with your current card stocks tearing, please give this a try.
