I really love how this card turned out.  It started as coloring for the 30 Day Coloring Challenge and morphed into this beautiful card.  I colored this stamp with Copic Markers. This is a stamp by Concord & 9th called Wonderful Florals.  There is a stamp set and a coordinating die set available.  You will want the die set trust me. There are so many fun things you can do with this.

So, there's a lot going on with this card.  As I said I colored with Copics First.  Then I cut the stamp out with the coordinating outline die.  Next, I wanted to do something with the Wonderful letters to make them stand out but not conflict with the colors in the flowers.  I decided to emboss the letters with gold embossing powder using the striped stamp in the set.  I used Ranger Superfine Detail Embossing Powder.   

There are probably others ways to emboss the letters but this is how I did it:  I used a light color ink to stamp the wonderful stamp and then I cut out the wonderful letters part with the coordinating die.  Next, I used a tape runner and put a little bit of adhesive on a piece of copy paper and I adhered each letter.  The paper is creased so I can put the embossing powder back into the jar.  I stamped each one with Versamark Ink using striped stamp in the set.  Be sure to use your embossing buddy first so none of the powder sticks where you don't want it.  Pour the embossing powder over the letters and then pour back into the jar.  You can do all of this on this one piece of paper.  Then I glued the letters on the card over the letters already there. 

I love how the striped gold embossing looks!  I also embossed a couple other stamps from the set, 'For A' and 'Friend' with the gold embossing powder on white cardstock and cut out the strip.  I used foam squares to give them dimension. Scrapbook Adhesive 3D Foam Squares are perfect for this. 

I used foam under the Wonderful stamp to give it dimension as well.  I almost put this stamp on a white card base and then I decided to find a matching color cardstock and stamp some of the smaller stamps around the edge and emboss with clear embossing powder.  I used a small flower, leaves and a sprig. I used Ranger Clear Embossing Powder for this. It just adds some interest and shine but because it blends in with the cardstock, I don't think it is too busy or conflicts with the Wonderful stamp.  I finished it by adding some clear confetti.  

I really did have so much fun with this stamp set and dies.  You can also cut extra flowers out with the other dies and color them and then pop onto the card over the flowers to give more dimension.

Watercolor Background with Ink Smooshing

I made a quick card yesterday with the intent of putting it into a challenge using 6 things on the card and then I realized I used the wrong company's stamps.  I really like how it turned out.  I think what I did to the background is called ink smooshing.  I saw it done a couple years ago in a Kristina Werner video and thought it was cool.  Kristina took a piece of acetate and dabbed it in her spritzed ink and then dabbed it on her watercolor paper where she wanted it to go.  I just let mine run wild :)

I wanted the background to have some yellow, green and light blue in it.  I really meant it to have more green and blue and just a touch of yellow but when you're working with watercolor, sometimes it doesn't work out exactly like you planned but that's the cool thing about watercolor.

You can either use a large acrylic block or your craft mat and put down different colors of distress inks however you want, put one color in a few places, the next color in a few places but don't let them touch when you put the colors down.  You can either spritz the inks and then put your watercolor paper down on it working the inks in or in my case, I put them on a block, laid the watercolor paper down on the inks and if I felt I needed a little more of a color I inked the block and put the paper down in the area I needed more color and then I spritzed the watercolor paper and just let it run down the paper however it wanted and when I got color all over, I used a heat gun to dry it.

I used Tim Holtz Twisted Citron, Fossilized Amber and Tumbled Glass ink colors.  I wanted there to be more Tumbled Glass but it didn't happen that way but I still think it turned out really pretty.

I used Altenew's Botanical Gardens stamp set and masked the flower to add the butterfly on top and then heat embossed the flower, butterfly and sentiment with Stampendous Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder.

I took the plunge and added some little black paint droplets.  I think it added a little something something to it.  I used my Tim Holtz Splatter Tool finally to do this.  I finished it off with some gold sequins.  The sentiments on the front and inside are from Casual Friday Stamps, Pretty Posies.

So if you don't have a lot of time, don't have time to color, this is a great way to have a fun background and have your stamped images colored in as well.
