Personalized Glittered Wine Glass

Hi everybody,

I've been working on this glittered wine glass.  I think it is really pretty.  You can even leave the stem not glittered and glitter part of the top of the glass.  I like that look in silver and gold for the holidays, like on a champagne type glass.  This was just fun.  I was playing with this while waiting on my.... wait for it....
sand.... sandblast box.  LOL!  I am going to do glass etching by sandblast technique.  We already have an air compressor so I had to buy the Air Eraser Kit and then need sandblast box and sand.  I can still etch with cream until everything gets here.  But in the meantime, I think these glasses are fun.

I used gloss Mod Podge on the stem and then added glitter.  I let dry about 10 hours.  I did it in the morning so I did a second layer in the evening and let that dry overnight.  The second layer looked really good, covered great.  You can then seal it.  I used painters tape and taped starting at the stem and went up about halfway because I used a spray sealant.  I used Krylon Crystal Clear Gloss Acrylic Spray.  I actually sent Krylon an email and asked if this spray would seal glitter on glass and they said yes it would but not for dishwasher, which I'm cool with.  You can also use Triple Thick Gloss Glaze to seal if you don't like the spray.  If you use that, use very thin coats and you'll have to do it 2 or 3 times and wait about a day in between each coat.

As I get into these projects more and more I'll be glad to share what I learn about products and such.  If you would like me to do tutorials let me know and I can do those too.  Picture tutorials right now but we do have a tripod so wouldn't it be hilarious if I actually made real live videos and you could hear my Southern twang.  LOL!!

I love skyping with my crafty friends and hearing their voice for the first time.  We had been chatting online you know for years so it's fun to see and hear each other.

Sympathy Cards and Glass Etching in the Future

Hi everybody,

Well, it's been a sad week.  I had to make two sympathy cards.  I made one for my Dad because my Grandmother passed away.  She was 90 so she had a good life.  The only thing is she had been in a nursing home for the past four years and got Alzheimers.  She didn't know who we were.  If you have never gone through this with a relative or a friend, words can't describe how heartbreaking it is. 

The other card is for a school friend. I've known her since we were about 8 years old.  Her Dad passed away last week.  Now that I'm in my 40's, I'm seeing a lot of my friends parent's pass and it is so sad.  I still have mine so I'm trying to appreciate everyday they are here.  So glad I moved back to Mississippi where they live. 

Anyway, enough of my rambling lol.  Seems like I always turn to Gina K Designs stamps for sympathy cards.  The outside images, background script and sentiment is from Gina K.  The inside stamps are from Close To My Heart.  Here is the one for my Dad.

This is the one I made for my friend.  I feel like depending on who it is it doesn't have to be made with dark colors, do you agree?  I know she loves yellow and flowers so that's what I made for her.

I thought this was a cute border embossing folder from Darice.  I colored the stamps with Tombo waterbased markers and used the Sakura Clear Pen on inside of flowers and just kept it simple. 


I just want to add one more thing..... I have decided to add some different product selections to my offerings currently to customers, which is mostly cards.  I am starting glass etching and even decided to get the sandblast tools and box.  Already have an air compressor.  I'll show pictures of what I make.  I'm also going to start working with vinyl.  Anyway, just wanted to share that with you.  Stay tuned.  :)

LOVE Block Letters Valentine

Hi everybody!

I'm crankin' out the Valentine cards already.  I cut these block letters out with the Silhouette. Just trying some different things for people that say 'do whatever you want... I trust you.' lol okay

I have GOT to find a new photo editing software.  Please make some recommendations for me.  What works well for you?  The ones I have tried have all been free and I can't do what I want to do so I guess it's time to stop being cheap and spend some money so my cards photograph well.  I want the background to be lighter/white without lightening the card itself.  Help!

Piece of my Heart Valentine Card

Hi everybody,

I just made my first Valentine card for 2015.  I'm trying to be on the same schedule as the stores lol, since I sell my cards I need to get them out early too.

I am going to start using my Silhouette a lot more.  If I run across something cool I'll share it with you.  I cut out the puzzle pieces with the Silhouette and the sentiment was written with the Silhouette pens.  I love being able to put anything I want on the card now.

I've been editing my pictures with Picasa and for some reason today I couldn't get into it so I tried PicMonkey for the first time.  I guess it did okay.  I still can't get a program to lighten the background to my satisfaction without lightening the card itself.  Can someone help me with this? 

This next week I'll be getting the glass etching starter kit and vinyl so please watch for some new things to come from me this year.  I'm excited about expanding my product offerings to my client base.

1st Xmas As A Pair Card Using Silhouette Pens

The Silhouette is so much fun to use.  I love being able to import logos, photos, etc, and being able to use them how I want to.  Another new thing that I've been using are the Silhouette pens.  Have you used these?  OMG!  I think I have every color now.  I can write anything I want in cards or as a greeting and cut it out.  You can download fonts free from the internet or from the Silhouette Store.  I would wait until the fonts are on sale if you're going to get from the store obviously because they are $2.99 each.  I have a lot of luck with free fonts from Fonts 101.

This is the Christmas card I made for my boyfriend.  I cut the mittens out with the Silhouette and used White Sharpie Paint Pen to write on them. I couldn't find a stamp that fit what I wanted to say so I used the Silhouette pens to write what I wanted. Gotta love that!

College Football Notecards

Hi everybody!

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas holiday.  Did anyone get any awesome crafty gifts?  I got a laserjet printer.  I'm hoping to be able to print digital images more economically, no smearing and heavy cardstock.  I'll let you know how it worked out for me and share the info with you.


I just wanted to share a card I made.  Football and hunting are both HUGE in Mississippi where I live now.  I've made an Ole Miss card in the past, a college located in Oxford, MS.  Now I've made a Mississippi State card.  This college is located in Starkville, MS.  They are rival college football teams. 

It was a little bit of a challenge because I had to import the logo into the Silhouette software and basically take the layers apart and cut separately and hand glue each piece.  Of all the colors of card stock that I have, would you believe I found about 3 sheets of gray paper?  I guess I never use this color, well, it's kind of necessary for a Miss State card.  The colors are white, gray and burgandy.  Any suggestions on where to get gray and burgandy colored paper?

Christmas Besties

Hi everybody!

Well, it's Christmas Eve today.... seems like I've been waiting all year and here it is.  Seems like years ago, there was enough time in the day to do everything I wanted.... baking, shopping, wrapping, etc., but the one thing missing from my list of to-do's back then?  Cards!  I started making cards almost 4 years ago.  Cards do take a lot of time don't they?  So this year, I've tried to scale back everything and try to fit in some of everything but it still seems like cards prevail.  I know I've shared these with you already but today is my actual My Besties DT posting date. LOL!  Oops, I guess I couldn't wait, wanted to show them as soon as they were done.  I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday with family and friends.  Please be safe and have FUN!  Oh, speaking of FUN.... I went to my Dad's this past weekend for Christmas at his house and we played a domino game called Chicken Feet.  Have you played this?  It was SO much FUN!  I haven't played games in years.  Now I want to play it at every get together!  Google it if you haven't played it.  It's easy and fun.  Little kids can play it.  :)

My Besties Christmas Cards

Hi everybody!

Are you as busy as I am??  By the time I finish decorating the house, Christmas will be over and I certainly won't be taking it down right after New Year's if that's the case lol.  The tree is finished, although it doesn't have a tree skirt because Megan, the cat, likes to lay on the tree skirt and mess with the tree but I learned yesterday that she doesn't want to lay on the concrete floor so now I don't have to worry about her messing with the tree.  I have several glass ornaments and they shatter big time when they hit the concrete floor.  I'm used to having carpet. 

I have a question, do you like these crafty blogs to be about crafty topics only or do you like a little personal info as well, such as pictures of my Christmas tree, etc.  Just curious. 

I'm finally getting around to making cards using the Besties images I colored.  I'm making the Besties cards for close family and/or my card making friends who will appreciate them.  Well, let me ask you this..... does it matter to you if you make a card for someone and they don't say anything or act like they appreciate it?  It does bother me but some people say you should just make your cards for yourself because it makes you happy.  Well, it does make me happy to make cards BUT a thank you or oh that is so pretty would be nice, that's all I'm saying.  I don't expect them to do cartwheels and shout it out to the world.  Anyway, just wondering how you feel about this.  Hope you like my cards.

Do you think I went overboard with the green and polka dots?  I never hardly use green so I have no idea what got into me today.  :)

I used copics to color.  Would anyone be interested in knowing what color copics I use when I post these images?  I used the Martha Stewart punch for the greenery by the greeting.  I love that punch!  I used Carta Bella paper called Merry & Bright.  The greeting is from Gina K Designs from a set called Joyful Holiday.

Sometimes I like to make Christmas cards in non-traditional colors such as the red and blue colors.  I still think the colors look wintery and festive.  I used copics to color and some stickles on the snow in Crystal color.

Easy Santa Suit Card and 'Homemade Silver Card Stock'

Hi everybody,

I've been busy working on some card orders which doesn't leave much time for me to make Christmas cards for myself to send out.  I wanted to share the one I made yesterday.  I'll make several of this one, send out a few Bestie cards that I colored and whatever else strikes my fancy.

I got this idea from Pinterest, easy to mass produce

See the silver buckle?  Be impressed okay lol.  I didn't have any silver card stock so I took a piece of white card stock and used Versamark Ink putting it on pretty thick and then sprinkling silver embossing powder all over the card stock and heat set.  Then I cut out the buckle from my 'new' silver card stock. 

The bottom half is the embossing powder before heat set and the top is what it looks like as it heat sets and the bottom one is the finished product.  

Just thought I'd share a quick way to make your gold and silver card stock if you don't have any.

My Christmas Tree and a My Besties Image

Hi everybody!

I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday.  I did!  I went to my Aunt's house, about 40 minutes away, which is nothing compared to when I had to drive 5 hours from St. Louis to Memphis.  They met my boyfriend for the first time and they really liked him, which I knew they would :)

I wanted to share a My Bestie image that I colored and also my Christmas tree.

Okay, now my tree.  I'm at several stores and I'm seeing people carrying armloads of this 21" mesh and I find out they are using it on their Christmas tree so of course I have to try it.  It's called Deco Poly Mesh.  You can also make wreaths with it.  I have an extra roll that is red and green so I think I'll go buy a wreath and make one.  I'll post that too.  So basically you just take the sides and bring them together bunching it up, twist it and I tied it where I twisted it with these things that are like pipe cleaners but Christmas colors.  Then you poof it up and put it where you want it on your tree.  You can go up and down with it, around like garland.  I think I went kind of diagonal but it's however you like it, no right or wrong way.  This is the tree so far.  Today or tomorrow I'll add more ornaments and I bought some picks to try to use as the topper.  I'll post another picture when finished.  So what do you think about this?  

Then I had some red mesh ribbon so I kind of draped it around tree.  I haven't had a tree up in 4 years because my ex husband wouldn't get it from the basement and bring it up for me and it was too heavy for me to so I'm SO happy that I have one this year.  My boyfriend loves to decorate for Christmas.

Snowman and Bestie

Hi everybody!

I have been on the My Besties Design Team for awhile now.  They were nice enough to let me come back after I got moved and settled.  Now there is a new team called the Coloring Design Team and I am now on it.  This team colors 4 images a month, card optional, and the images can be used for advertising or to make products with such as tags, 3D sheets, etc.  This is right up my alley since I love to color and need to PRACTICE!  :)

The images we color are only to be colored, no glitter, stickles, glossy accents, etc., can be added so that's why I will make cards too so that I can dress them up.

Christmas Bestie with Snow Pen

Hi everybody,

I colored this Sherri Baldy Christmas Bestie and wanted to share it with you.  Here's a link to the image Winter Wonderland Holiday Tweet Mail.

I've always been afraid of dark colored copics, especially red, well, I dove right in and I love the results.  I normally use R20, R22, R24, R27, and R29 when I want red.  This time I wanted a darker red so I used  R35, R37, and R39.  They blend super easy together.  Then I used the Marvy Snow Pen for the first time and I think it's pretty cool.  Look at the dimension it gave to the fur on her hat and boots.  The faux snow is from Papertrey Ink.  A couple people told me they couldn't find the faux snow at Papertrey Ink.  I bought it just a couple weeks ago.  I wonder if they are just out of it.  There isn't a label or name of any kind on the bottle but I'm sure you can find it at other online stores as well.  It looks like iridescent flakes.  I decided from now on, everytime I place an order with someone, I will order one product I've never tried so this time was the faux snow.  I just used the Zig two way glue pen and sprinkled it on there and heat set it from the back.  I should've used a little more but I'll know next time.  I also used Stickles on the mailbox.  You can never go wrong with stickles.  I used the Crystal one.  I did make a boo boo on her yesterday.  I took a Wink of Stella pen and lightly went over the middle of the bow on the mailbox and OMG, it started bleaching it and bleeding.  Well, I thought I had ordered a Clear one but it was White.  I just went back over the ribbon with the reds and it looks better.  So my question is, can you not use the colored Wink of Stella pens over copics?  Several people said they use the Clear and it is fine but when I used the white it immediately bleached it out as if I were using a copic blender pen.

Oh, one more thing.... see the Greeting?  I used Silhouette pens to write that because that is what I wanted on the front and did not have a stamp that said that.  Is that not the coolest thing EVER???  They come in all colors, metallics, and glitter colors.  You have got to try these!  You can write anything you want, pick your size and font.  Love!

Thanksgiving Card and a Recipe

Hi everybody!

I was going to say Fall is in the air and it's almost Thanksgiving, what a wonderful time of the year BUT.... it doesn't feel like Fall today.  The high here in MS is in the 40's all week.  I hope we didn't skip straight into Winter already. 

I wanted to share my favorite Thanksgiving stamp with you.  It's from Northwoods.  I bought it at Archivers.  Unfortunately, Archivers closed.  Sad :( 

The inside sentiment is from Close To My Heart called Harvest Home.  I used the negative from the frame on the front for the inside.  I cut the frame out with the Silhouette. 

It's so nice to be back home in MS with family and friends.  I used to have to drive 5 hours each holiday to see them.  Driving 20 minutes is wonderful!  What are some of your favorite dishes to make?  I seem to always struggle with side dishes.  I think I'll make Cream Cheese Corn as one.  Not sure if this is the name but it's what I call it.  You take 2-3 bags of frozen whole kernel corn and just mix in a block of cream cheese, butter and sugar and then a little salt and pepper (you can't really mess this up so use butter, sugar to taste).  I keep it warm in a crock pot.  Everyone loves this!  Try it and let me know if you liked it. :)

Ole Miss Cards With Charms

Hi everybody! 

I'm working on a Christmas card order for an Ole Miss fan.  Well, I have a question.... so I'm in a new relationship this year and I'd like to design some really special Christmas cards for us to send out.  How do you personally go about designing your own cards each year?  I was just curious what you do.  I'd love to hear from you and your ideas! 


This is the card I'm working on now.  Some of the charms say I (heart) football and some of the charms are football players.  I was going to emboss a very subtle Christmas background but she wanted the Swiss Dots. 

There are Christmas sentiments for the inside, stamped in blue if I use the blue and white twine and red if I use red and white twine. :)

That's what I do, custom cards lol.

Wedding Card - 2nd Time Around

Hi everybody!

When I make a wedding card for someone, for some reason I immediately think pink colors.  I made a sweet girl named Amanda that works in my Neurologist office in St. Louis a wedding card in pinks.  Well guess what?  It never made it!!  I mailed it in a brown bubble envelope with more than enough postage and still not there after 3 weeks.  Well you can imagine how that made me feel  !!?*!#!.  I had appointment there end of October so I had to make her another one, I mean, I couldn't just say, it still didn't make it?  So I wanted to hand deliver it.

I've made this card before in pinks using this Elisabeth Bell image.  I think it is so cute for a young, first time married couple, don't you?  Well, I asked another lady in the office what her wedding colors were and she said Tiffany Blue and Silver.  Boy, was I way off!  LOL!  So here's the card I made for her.  Wouldn't you know it, my BG10 marker was almost dry.  I squeezed every drop out using my copic colorless blender fluid.  You know what I mean if you use copics.  I use this one all the time because I trace around edges of image a lot in addition to coloring.

The inside sentiment is from Close To My Heart.  I use it all the time because of it's appropriateness.  I put a little tulle on her veil, sparkled it up with some stickles and Sakura pen.

So, guess what??  The day of my appointment when I gave her the card, she told me it had arrived the day before.  LOL!!!!  You know what?  I'm fine with that because at least she did eventually get it and it's not on the ground somewhere, you know?  She also believes I really did make her a card 3 weeks earlier when I told her I did. :)
