Baseball Eclipse Card - Masculine Card

Hi Everybody,

This past Saturday I posted a couple of Eclipse Cards with instructions using the beautiful Alexandra Renke papers for a couple of ladies that helped me with physical therapy.  Links to the papers I used on the cards from Saturday are in that blog post.  Link to that post is below. 

I just wanted to post one more Eclipse Card I made and this is for the owner. He likes baseball because his son plays so I made a card for him using baseball patterned paper.  I think these can be great masculine cards.  

I made this card in about 15 minutes.  When you use patterned paper they are the fastest to make because you already have your background made, but the alcohol ink and stamped backgrounds are more fun because you made the background yourself. 

I used a Die-Namics die from My Favorite Things called Big Thanks.  This is the perfect size for these cards.  It's about 3-1/2" long.  A few people had asked me how big my card is because I think they thought the die was bigger than it is.  My card is an A2 card.

Thanks Eclipse Cards - TupeloDesignsLLC DT Project

I recently discovered Alexandra Renke papers from a couple of my friends in the Stamp Junkies group on Facebook posting the most beautiful cards, like eye candy and I found out they used these papers on their cards.  Alexandra Renke's papers are actually her own artwork made into these gorgeous papers.  TupeloDesignsLLC also carries her washi tape, stamps and dies.  

I have been going to physical therapy because I recently had a knee replacement and I wanted a couple of quick, pretty cards to take to the girls that work there.  An eclipse card made from these papers are perfect!  

Here's a Link to the first paper I used called Autumn Design Paper 12"x12" Blackberry. I thought this paper was so beautiful and I don't see blackberries on patterned papers so I wanted to use it on a card for something different. 

Here's a Link to the second paper I used called Poppy Design Paper- Red.  Did I mention a 12x12 sheet is only $1.39 and it is thick, not flimsy like most 12x12 papers.  

An Eclipse Card is actually really easy to make:

Your background can be either 1) Patterned paper like I used here, 2) You can stamp your own background with flowers, etc., or 3) You can make a background with alcohol inks, colorburst, oxide inks, etc.

Once you have your background, choose either a word die or you can use your own alphabet letters to make a word(s).  I used a My Favorite Things Die-Namics called Big Thanks.  TupeloDesignsLLC has many MFT dies so check them out! 

Next you place the die/alphabet letters where you want them on your background.  I taped the die down to make sure it didn't move and then ran it through the die cutting machine.  Make sure you keep up with the inside parts of the letters.

  

For these cards I used a dark gray bottom layer cardstock.  Adhere your background with the word die cut out of it to this bottom layer.  Make sure you put adhesive in between the letters so those little parts stick too. I just used a tape runner for this.  If you have inside parts of letters, such as the 'A' I have in my Thanks die, put your letter A in the cut out place and glue in just the inside part.  You are placing the letter where it goes only to see where you need to glue that inside part and then you can take the letter out. 

I cut out Thanks again with the dark gray cardstock I used on the bottom layer about 4 times and I glued these to the backs of my patterned paper letters. You do not have to do this but it also will give it a slight shadow as well.  You can also just glue the letters right into the spaces with no height at all, it's up to you.  I like the way the letters look when they look 3D like this so that's why I used the 4 extra letters glued underneath.

Once you have glued all of that together, then just glue the letters into their respective places on your background.  You're finished unless you want to add a few sequins or other embellishments. I didn't add anything to the blackberry card because it has enough going on with the pattern itself.  I did glue some clear confetti to the red poppy card because there is a lot of white space but it isn't necessary.

I love how the gray cardstock layers give the letters a shadow around them.  

I hope I've inspired you to try an Eclipse Card.  They are easy and it was actually relaxing just sitting there gluing the letters together.  Alexandra Renke papers makes an Eclipse Card super easy.  She did half the work by providing such a gorgeous background to start with. Thank You For Listening Sentiment

Hi Everybody,

We all make thank you cards for people to thank them for things they have done for us, thanking them for their time, etc.  How many times have you vented to a friend, or running ideas by a friend, etc., I have the perfect stamp set and sentiment just for this very cause.  

I am using a stamp set from Sweet 'N Sassy Stamps called Thankful Blooms.  I love the big, bold flowers in this set.  I chose to stamp them in Fall colors but of course you can stamp in brighter colors such as pink, softer colors such as aqua or lilac and even red would look great as well.  Since these are solid image stamps, you will need to stamp a couple of times to get good coverage.  I stamped with the Misti and pressed normally the first time and very, very light with the second time. 

I used Colorbox dye inks in Pumpkin, Raspberry and Mustard for the flowers and Bamboo Leaves by Memento for the leaves and then cut everything out with coordinating dies. (these are no longer available but stamp set is)

I used Gina K Designs Heavy Base Weight Ivory for the base and Honey Mustard for the background.  I embossed with an embossing folder by We R Memory Keepers called Next Level, Woven.  It comes in a set of two folders. These provide the deepest impression of any folders I have every had.  

I used some Gina K Designs Layering Weight Ivory card stock and cut out the stitched tag from Paper Smooches.  I embossed the sentiment with Brutus Monroe Penny Embossing Powder.  If you are in the market to try some new embossing powders, I think you will really like these.  I sponged around the edge of the tag with copper pigment ink and thought it needed to be a little darker so I went back over with Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Gathering Twigs using a jumbo sponge dauber. 

I tied a bow with some natural twine and added a few glitter enamel dots in a golden color to finish it off. 

I just love the sentiments in this stamp set and the different combinations that the words can be used as.  If you vent to friends, like I do, you might like to pick this set up and use the Thank You for listening sentiment and I promise the recipient will love it.

I hope I inspired you to rethink your thank you cards and take them to the next level to make them even more special and meaningful.

Stenciled Oxide Ink Background

Hi Everybody!

I haven't been on here since end of last week!  I had out of town company, a good cardmaking friend of mine from IL and her husband came to see us for a couple of days. My friend and I could spend the day anyway we wanted and we chose to relax and color, talk, listen to smooth jazz on and drink wine.  It was really nice to not feel guilty about coloring for several hours while she was here.  We ate lots of good food cooked by my husband, who used to be on BBQ teams and we went shopping.  So when I stop crafting for several days, it is hard for me to get back in the groove.
  
Yesterday, I picked up my Oxide Inks and some stencils, started sponging and the wheels in the brain finally started turning again.  :) I don't think I will ever get tired of these oxide inks because I'm still not tired of my distress inks. Yes, I will be getting the second set of 12. 

This entire card is basically all sponged ink.  A couple months ago, I stamped and embossed lots of the flowers in the Pretty Posies set by Casual Friday Stamps and I sponged them all with pinks, oranges, yellows.  I have the matching dies so I cut them all out and put them in a bag for a later date when I needed a card fairly quickly.  It's so nice to always have colored images on hand, stamped, embossed, etc, stamps on hand. It's just as easy to do 20 as it is to do 1.  LOL!  

I have to tell you, sometimes I play with color combos that surprise me.  I really love how this background turned out.  I love how soft the gray and pink look together.  You can obviously sponge harder or do more layers and make it darker but because my flowers and leaves are so vibrant, I wanted a very soft, pretty background.  I have never even used this stencil and I really like it now that I have.  I got it at a big box store, brand is Heidi Swapp but I'm not sure of the name of the stencil itself.  It came in a set of 2 or 3 that layered together.  Back when I bought these stencils, I also bought some of her sprays and I've never used those either.  What is wrong with me??  So I'm sure I'll be playing with sprays here soon and stencils. :)

For the background I used Tim Holtz Oxide Inks in Worn Lipstick and Iced Spruce.  I used jumbo sponge daubers and lightly sponged over the stencil that was taped down over the Bristol Smooth paper.  
The flowers were embossed with Hero Arts white embossing powder, cut out with the matching dies and sponged with distress inks (this was before oxide inks  BOI) lol.  Pretty Posies stamps and dies from Cas-ual Friday Stamps.  I went over the flowers and leaves with a clear Wink of Stella glitter pen. I used pop dots to pop up the flowers and leaves on the card for the focal point part but not the other 2 flowers.  The Thanks die is from Hero Arts called Thanks Stamp and Cut and the 'for brightening my day' part of the greeting is from Right At Home called Color in Sentiments. 

I thought it would look beautiful to finish it off by placing sequins where the small circles are on the stencil.  I used some gorgeous sequins by The Ton Stamps.  They are 3mm size called Glass Slipper, the clear ones. They are really small but perfect for this. 

I made a couple other stenciled oxide backgrounds so now I have those to use for cards later on.  

By the way, did you see my LIVE FACEBOOK VIDEO on the ZIG SCRIBBLING Technique?  OMGosh, I'm not afraid to do anything anymore after doing that.  If you missed it let me know.  I actually made TWO but I deleted the first one because it somehow ended up being 38 minutes!!!  How is that possible?  The second one is about 15 minutes.  I have to warn you that I made an oops and put my phone on the stand backwards after I finished talking with the camera pointed to me.  It was my first one so I get a pass right?  :)

I Brake For The Outdoorsman Collection

Hi everybody!

I have a masculine card to show you this week from I Brake For Stamps called Outdoorsman Collection.  This is such a great stamp for the hunters in your life.  It would make a great birthday card, thank you, hello, etc.  I am using this one to thank someone who helped me and also hunts.  

I colored this with Zig Real Brush Markers and sponged the background with Memento Desert Sand Ink.  I added Glossy Accents to the glass parts on the compass, lantern and binoculars.  I used a Tim Holtz die.  I thought this looked masculine and like it was written.  Finished off with glitter enamel dots.

St. Louis Arch Thank You Card

Hi everybody!

Today I want to share a Thank You card I made.  It's simple but I think it looks so clean and nice, what do you think?  I stayed with a friend when I went to St. Louis last week and I thought this St. Louis Arch stamp would be perfect to go on my card to her.  This stamp is from I Brake For Stamps.     If you use Coupon Code SAVE10REGINA, you will receive 10% off your order. 

I embossed the stamp with black embossing powder and colored the Arch with a silver glitter pen.  Isn't that pretty?  I used a Sizzix stamp with matching dies and finished it off with some silver metal beads.  I used Black Soot ink around the edge of the die to set it off from the white card stock background.

Cards using MFT Stencils

Hi everybody!

I just wanted to share a couple cards that I made yesterday.  I made the Thank You card for my next door neighbor's Mother, who stayed here overnight and kept Barney when I went out of town to St. Louis.  I know, you think my having a 'baby sitter' for Barney is insane right?  He would be scared if he had to be here by himself all night because he never has.  :)

I just made a simple background using a My Favorite Stamps stencil called Scrolled BG.  I inked it up with Tim Holtz Spun Sugar Distress Ink.  The Thanks die is a Lawn Fawn die called Scripty Thanks.  I use these scripty dies a lot.  I topped it off with a few sequins and used some Wink of Stella Clear glitter pen over the word, thanks to give it a subtle sparkle.

I made this card for someone whose Father recently passed away.  I know she doesn't like pink so I made the flowers blue.  I used a My Favorite Things stencil called Rose Builder.  I love this stencil!  It is so relaxing to use this stencil and mask and just take your time.  That's what I did, went around the card masking as I went with Post It Masking Tape.

I ended up stamping a sentiment inside.  It said, Sending Thoughts and Prayers Your Way.  I used ink colors, Tim Holtz Tumbled Glass and Bamboo Leaves by Memento.
