Winter Fun

Hi Everybody,

I made this card a couple weeks ago and didn't post it.   I used lots of fun foils on this one.

Polar Bear Pals by My Favorite Things is the stamp set used.  I colored this cute bear with Copic Markers and cut him and a slightly larger layer out with stitched oval dies.

I used Gina K Designs Ocean Mist cardstock for bottom layer and the top layer is Foil Mates from Gina K Designs.  I don't think this particular snowflake background is sold but there are larger snowflakes called Foil Mates Background Blizzard which is similar.  I used Iridescent Deco Foil from Thermoweb.  I just love this particular foil, it's so much fun because when you move the card around you see a rainbow of color.

I used a Martha Stewart snowflake punch for the blue snowflakes and Winter Fun is a die from Die-Versions, Express Edges. Ocean Blue Deco Foil is what I used for both of these, along with the Toner Paper from Thermoweb for the die.

To finish the card off, I lightly sponged around the bear with Ocean Mist Ink from Gina K Designs.  The embellishments are Brutus Monroe Bottle Cap Sequins in Cotton Candy.  I LOVE the bottlecap sequins!  They are flat and just plop down exactly where you need them to be with no fuss.  The white dots are Nuvo Drops in White Blizzard I used them in Morning Dew under the skates (I think that's the name).  A Sakura Metallic Silver Pen was used on the skate blades and along the sides of the card.

I hope you like this card and thanks for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Snow Globe Scene

Hi Everybody,

I just wanted to share another Christmas card I made.  I made this card for someone that lives in a log cabin.  How cute is this scene??  She couldn't understand why I kept asking what color her door is hee hee.  I used a stamp set from Gina K Designs called Holiday Frame.  If you like snowglobes and building scenes, then this is the set for you!

I stamped with Gina K Designs Black Onyx Ink and colored with Copic Markers.  I used Nuvo Drops in White Blizzard to add dimension to the roof and snowflakes.  I used a white gel pen to add some white to the trees.

This was a fun card to make!  Check out the Frame Stamp Sets by Melanie Muenchinger by clicking on Stamp Sets and then By Illustrator and click on her name.

Prismacolor Pencils on Kraft Cardstock

Hi Everybody,

I have been taking coloring classes for almost two years, pencil and marker, from Kit and Clowder.  The website is www.kitandclowder.com.  If you would like to take your coloring skills to a new level, I would highly recommend checking these classes out.  Alyce Keegan is an awesome teacher and friend.

Right now, you can get this cute penguin image and pencil coloring class FREE.  This class is learning how to color on kraft cardstock and dark colored cardstock.  I colored the image and then made a card with it for a friend for Christmas.  I used Prismacolor Pencils to color him.

I used Thermoweb's Decofoil Transfer Sheets for the frame (red) and the merry die (green) and I used Transfer Gel with a Brutus Monroe Snowflake Stencil and foiled with silver. I embossed the word, Christmas with white embossing powder on a black cardstock strip.  I added Nuvo Drops in various places on the penguin and finished it off with red and silver metallic twine.

I hope I've piqued your interest in these classes.  Everyone that I have referred has been very happy and has continued on.  There are monthly classes that teach you several techniques in each class for around $15 and there are also specific classes such as Clothing where you learn how to draw in and color pleats, etc., Skin and Hair, Animals, etc.  If you refer a friend, you will receive $10 as a thank you from Alyce.  Be sure to turn in my name if I've inspired you! :)

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Season's Greetings Shaker Card

Hi Everybody,

I am on the Sweet 'N Sassy Blog today using a stamp set from Sweet 'N Sassy Stamps called Season's Greetings.  Currently, this stamp set is 20% off.

Have you used the Gina K Designs Fancy Foils? Oh Emm Gee!  They are so much fun!  I used the Foilmates Background Ornamental Holiday pack with the stripes.  I also used the Holiday Colors Foil in Radiant Red and DecoFoil in Green.

I decided on making a shaker card for this one.  I stamped with Versafine Onyx Black Ink and embossed with Brutus Monroe Ultra Fine Icicle Embossing Powder.  I used Bristol Smooth Paper and colored with Zig Markers and put some Clear Wink of Stella over the top, nothing fancy here. I always try to use a Cardinal anytime I can because I lived in the St. Louis area for 20 years, need I say more?? For the snow part, I used Nuvo Gloss White and put a thick coat on.  I then tied some red and white bakers twine around the mailbox, so cute!

I used My Favorite Things Wide Circle Stitch Dies and cut out in a heavy white cardstock. For the clear part I used Fellowes Binder Covers.  They are the perfect weight for shaker cards and not expensive, 100 for around $20.  Can't beat that!  I didn't want to cover the beautiful striped foil so I cut circles from regular circle dies for the front and back.  I embossed the front clear window with a snowflake embossing folder. I filled the shaker window with red, green and silver sequins from my stash and some silver bugle beads for something a little different.

I stamped the greeting with the Versafine Onyx Black to make it really stand out from all the red and green I have going on here.  I used a fishtail banner die and cut a frame outline using Thermoweb Toner Paper and then foiled in Green. I just love how that green foil looks with the red and white.  To finish it off I used some Nuvo Red Berry drops around the window frame and each side of sentiment.

I had a lot of fun making this card!  Did I inspire you to make some Christmas cards?  Foil is so much fun!  It can really jazz up anything you are doing.  You can't go wrong with birds and bird houses on your holiday cards.

Thanks so much for stopping to see what I'm up to.  Have a great day!

Dashing Through The Snow

Hi Everybody,

I'm having a lot of fun making Christmas cards and check out this super cute stamp set from Sweet 'N Sassy Stamps called Holiday Hugs.  The images are adorable and I'm loving the font for the sentiments.

You might not can tell but boy did I use a lot of products on this card!  LOL!

This was a fun card to make.  I started by embossing some snowflakes with Brutus Monroe Ultra Fine Alabaster Embossing Powder and then using the Cornflower Brutus Monroe Colorburst over them.  The embossing resists the Colorburst which is fun.  I put a couple layers on to make it a little darker.

Next I used Brutus Monroe Glue on the bottom part and then sprinkled Flower Soft in Polar White all over, tapped off any excess and put it aside to dry.  I used a Darice die called Evergreen Border for the middle part and used Nuvo Gloss White Drops to go around tree branches to give the appearance of snow and put aside to dry.  I used Nuvo White Blizzard Glitter Dots on the Snowflakes, dotting it on the circle parts.  I love these drops because they look like whatever the color is below so these have a blue color to them like the Colorburst sky.

I used the MISTI stamping tool to stamp the pequin with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and colored the penguin part with Copic Markers.  Then I stamped him three more times so that I could paper piece the snowboard and his hat.  I used the Lawn Fawn Perfectly Plaid Rainbow Pad for the purple in the hat and the Christmas Pad for the red in the snowboard. I never paper piece but those paper pads just looked like so much fun.  I used the Nuvo Gloss White to add dimension and shine to the balls on his hat.  I propped him up with foam squares to give him dimension and make him look like he's riding down the hill.

I used Thermoweb Toner Paper to cut out the Tim Holtz Paper Snowflakes Die and then foiled with Silver Decofoil.  Their foil is so pretty!

For the sentiment, I stamped on #48 Vellum with Versafine Onyx Black Ink and then Embossed with Brutus Monroe Ultra Fine Icicle Embossing Powder to give it lots of shine.

Here's a tip for you..... are you listening.... I use Stick It under Vellum and you can't see it.  I used it here.  You can't see it if the sticky part isn't messed up that is.  For instance if you stick your finger in it and some of it rubs away, that's what I mean by 'messed up', then you may be able to see where that is.  Try it and let me know what you think!  In hindsight, I should've rounded the corners of the vellum.

Finally I used Gina K Designs Red Hot Cardstock for the bottom layer.  I forgot to mention the paper I used for the top and that is Arches 140# Coldpress Watercolor Paper.  This is very thick and can take a lot of water.  I wasn't sure how much spritzing I would be doing on the Colorburst so I chose this paper so it could handle it, and it did. I taped it down with Scor-Tape.

Grateful Florals

Hi Everybody,

I am a guest designer again this month for Strawberry Jude Stamps.  If you know me at all, you know I love working with flower stamps and what a lovely set this is from Strawberry Jude Stamps this month.  It's called Grateful Florals.  I love this set for a lot of reasons!  It was really difficult to decide what to make with it only because my entire head was filled with ideas. I decided to use the large bouquet because it's the perfect size for the center of a card.

I used Canson Montval paper, embossed the flowers with white embossing powder and colored with Zig Real Brush Markers.  I initially starting painting around the flowers with a light gray but I wasn't happy with that color with these flowers so I switched to a purple and wow, doesn't it make the flowers pop right off the page??  The bottom layer of card stock is black onyx by Gina K Designs.

I used the MISTI to line up the sentiments straight, then stamped with Versafine Onyx Black ink and embossed over the top with clear embossing powder to give a little shine and dimension.  I added a few dew drop embellishments and added clear and orange Nuvo Drops.

If you like raccoons, fox and leaves, then you should check out the other new release stamp set called Falling With Fox and Raccoon

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!
